I am a psychoanalyst who provides modern psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. What this means is that above all, I want to get to know you and help you get to know yourself.
Psychoanalysis refers to a style of work that is depth oriented, frequent, and considers your unconscious as crucial in helping you understand your thoughts and feelings in meaningful ways.
In psychotherapy (as opposed to analysis) you may attend sessions less frequently, but the way in which we work remains the same. You lead the way, with the use of free associations, as we consider your past, present, and future. We listen to your dreams and daydreams. With adults and teens we do this primarily using talk-therapy, whereas with children I integrate play therapy into our work as well.
I work in this way with individuals of all ages including infants (with their parents), couples, families, and groups. Although the work can be uncomfortable and painful at times, most people find it deeply gratifying and empowering for living an intentional and wonder-full life.
